June, 1999 – June, 2000: Deputy Director of the Institute on Strategic Research and Industrial Policies under the Ministry of Industry

June, 2000 – May, 2008: Deputy Head, then Acting Head, and Head of the General Economic Department;  Consul General of Viet Nam at San Francisco, the U.S. 

May, 2008 – August, 2010: Vice Chairman of the Can Tho People’s Committee

August, 2010 – April, 2016: Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade cum Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee's Economic Commission
