VNGOVNet becomes Gov't official portal
(10/04/2007-09:00:00 PM)

VNGOVNet - Considering the proposals of the Minister-Head of the Government Office, who is also the Chief of the Steering Board for the Government Website (VNGOVNet), and of the Website Chief Editor, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng agreed on April 10 to convert the website into the Vietnamese Government's official portal. He also permitted to revise and supplement Decision 250/2005/QĐ-TTg dated on October 10, 2005 on the Government Website's structure and operation on the Internet.

Vietnamese people and foreigners highly applaud the Feb. 09, 2007 online talk made by PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng via the Government Website, the Communist Party's website and VietnamNet.

The PM assigned the Government Website to collaborate with the Government Office in drafting the PM's decision on the conversion and revisions.

Display of the Vietnamese Government's website (now Government's portal), Vietnamese and English versions

It is reported that, to put PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng's directions to the Government Website into reality, meet people's increasing requirements, and fulfill the website's tasks in the new stage of national development, the Website Editor-in-Chief has reported and submitted to the PM orientations for the Website's stage-II development which should be started immediately. Accordingly, the Website will be converted into the Government's portal with the official English name of Vietnam Government Portal (VNGOP). It will conduct three following major tasks:

- It functions as the Vietnamese Government's electronic newspaper;

- It will serve as the Government's administrative information net which will synchronize the software and procedures of information provision and exchange between the Government's website and those of ministries, sectors, localities and economic groups under a uniformed pattern. It is an online data base providing information about the Vietnamese Government, the country's socio-economic situations and other fields, legal documents issued by the Government, the Prime Minister, the State, ministries, sectors and local authorities. Online talks will be regularly held via the portal, helping form an online linkage between the Government, its leaders and members and the people.

- Finally, this will be an integrated portal of public services of the Government and authorities at all echelons. In the future, it will become the core of Vietnam's electronic administration.
