For four years since its debut on January 10, 2006, the Government Website, now the Government Web Portal (VGP), a unit administered by the Office of Government, has made some great impressions.
For the first time, on February 9, 2007, the PM's online talk to people through the Government Website opened the stage when websites of the Government, ministries, sectors and local authorities become a means for regular dialogues between the State and people.
In the past year, VGP posted nearly 10,000 news articles, over 2,000 photos, nearly 3,000 legal documents and over 2,000 documents on the Government's and the PM's direction.
VGP has received more than 8,000 questions from readers which are forwarded to competent bodies for answers.

Praising VGP's efforts, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng asked the Office of Government and VGP itself to further closely work with relevant ministries and agencies to conduct the follow-up steps of the development of the Government's official information body.
Accordingly, VGP will be linked with websites and portals of other State agencies and corporations in order to form an online administrative information system and provide public services to people, accelerating administrative reforms in favor of the country's socio-economic development.
New interface with more conveniences
Under Decision 83/2008/QĐ-TTg dated on June 25, 2008 by the PM, the Government Website is upgraded and developed as a web portal in two phases.
The building of a new interface is the first step in order to create preconditions for the full development of VGP. The new version of VGP includes a GIS-based administrative map system and an e-newspaper.
Then, VGP will become a portal for interactions between different entities: Government-to-Government; Government-to-Citizens; Government-to-Business; and Government-to-Non-residents.
Through VGP, people and enterprises can easily access to information database and resources available in the State administrative system rather than searching them from numerous websites, said Mr. Nguyễn Công Hóa, VGP Vice Director-General.
The formation of a Government administrative information network will be carried out from now until December 2010.
